The Loyal American Wolf
Free, plain-language tools and trusted resources for veterans, first responders, and families—whether you are building a VA claim, comparing benefits, or looking for the next place to turn.
Keeping Benefits With the Veteran
AFL provides claims education and practical tools at no cost, helping veterans make informed decisions without surrendering a large portion of the benefits they earned.
How the savings estimate works
There is no reliable national average for unaccredited claims-company fees. Published contracts and government reviews describe charges tied to several months of a veteran's benefit increase. A 2026 legislative review reports that these fees are usually more than $5,000, while investigated cases have reached as high as $20,000. AFL uses $7,500 as a conservative, transparent planning estimate.
By comparison, VA-accredited VSOs provide claims help free. Accredited attorneys and agents generally enter the process after an initial VA decision; direct-payment contingency agreements are commonly 20% of past-due benefits. AFL is not a law firm or an accredited representative and does not replace legal advice.
